Nathan Fillion Is a Perfect Live-Action Nathan Drake in the Fantastic 'Uncharted' Fan Film

So a 15-minute Uncharted fan film starring Nathan Fillion just dropped on the Internet a few days ago.  And it’s fantastic!

Look, I’m not much of a gamer.  Thus, I’m familiar with the video game and its lead character, Nathan Drake, only by reputation.   However, I’m a huge fan of Nathan Fillion – a funny, delightful actor with serious geek cred.  So this Uncharted short elated me.
For years, fans have been clamoring for Nathan Fillion to portray Nathan Drake in a live-action film, believing he’s a perfect fit for the role.  Now, I don’t have an in-depth understanding of who Nathan Drake is, but if I’m not mistaken, he’s supposed to be a dogged, quippy, down-to-earth Indiana Jones analogue.  For whatever my perception is worth, I think that, indeed, Fillion proves the notion that he would make a spot-on live-action Nathan Drake correct in this short film.

Actually, an Uncharted live-action is now currently in development (development hell?).  But Tom Holland – Spidey himself – is set to play Nathan Drake.  Hence, this fan film is probably the closest thing we’ll ever get to seeing Nathan Fillion headline an Uncharted film adaptation.  Still, it would truly be amazing if this will have the same effect on Nathan Fillion’s Uncharted hopes as the “leaked” test footage had for Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool years ago, wherein the enthusiastic Internet response basically led to that movie getting green-lit.
Nathan Fillion was a joy to watch as Richard Castle, who is probably the character he’ll be most remembered for by most people.  But for much of geekdom, he’s more beloved for his brief stint as Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly.  And, seriously, he thrives most in such kind of roles – the charming, badass, wisecracking action-adventure hero.  This is further made apparent in this short, as Nathan Drake fits that mold.  Moreover, it can be seen that he has the faculties and charisma to be a Chris Pratt if he had landed the right gigs.  (On a side note, Brendan Fraser also displayed thus in The Mummy movies.  It’s unfortunate his career never exploded off it.)

As of writing, the full film is available for free on Youtube.  Hopefully, it won’t be taken down. (Please don’t be a killjoy, Sony.)
