'Suicide Squad' Extended Cut Simply Enforces What I Thought of the Movie the First Time Around

The “Extended Cut” of Suicide Squad didn’t polish the movie as much as the “Ultimate Edition” did for Batman v Superman.  Probably because it only has about thirteen minutes of additional footage.  But I welcome it nonetheless, since one of the things I liked about the movie is the twisted love story arc of Harley Quinn and the Joker, and a good amount of the additional scenes brought by the Extended Cut are more flashbacks of this deranged couple.

However, all in all, one’s feelings for this movie won’t radically change from his or her initial reaction about it after watching the theatrical version.  Thirteen minutes’ worth of new scenes won’t really make it an entirely different, much upgraded movie.

Personally, re-watching Suicide Squad for the second time, in its Extended Cut version, only confirmed and enforced what I liked about this movie…
Like, Deadshot being a well-layered, badass character...
As well as Harley Quinn...
Whom Margot Robbie adorably played to perfection.  She's my most favorite thing in the movie...
Leto's portrayal being a distinctive, fresh take of the Joker (in my book)
Jai Courtney, as Captain Boomerang, delivering the best performance of his career...
The surprising likable chemistry of the team, and decent arcs for most of them, despite the lack of runtime for solid developments...
And that Enchantress (in her initial appearance) is wonderfully creepy...
Re-watching it also confirmed and enforced the things I disliked about this movie as well…
Especially, Enchantress' minions, which look like diseased Putty Patrol knock offs.  I find them extremely repulsive...
But, most importantly, how utterly hilarious Enchantress’ ridiculous, stupid dancing is...
Wahahahahaha!
Anyway, yeah, Suicide Squad is messy and has several problems.  But, at least, it’s more fun than Batman v Superman.  Honestly, it’s not as bad as what its 26% Rotten Tomatoes rating implies.  And I’m really glad it made a profit to ensure a sequel, since it needs one – not just a 13-minute-longer Extended Cut – to truly improve upon itself
