Last week, GTWFSL released three virtual song covers in commemoration
of the Holy Week and Easter.
For Good Friday, the teachers and some Junior High School students presented
“The Power of the Cross” by Stuart Townend and Keith & Kristyn Getty—a
moving, meaningful story hymn reflecting on the events of that day in which
Christ was crucified.
Then, on Holy Saturday, the Elementary students, some Junior High School
students, and their Music teacher, me, presented “The Salvation Poem” by Matt
and Sherry McPherson. Popularized by the
children’s TV series ‘Superbook’ (2011 reboot), “The Salvation Poem” presents
the Gospel—the crux of the Holy Week—in a “nursery rhyme”-level manner, making
it easy to understand and memorize, yet at the same time, manages to keep the
basic message of the Gospel undiluted and emphatic.
Finally, for Resurrection Sunday, the teachers and some Junior High
School girls presented “See, What a Morning (Resurrection Hymn)” by Keith &
Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend—a joyful, rousing story hymn about that
momentous Sunday morning in which Christ rose from the dead.
And as usual, here are the instrumental versions of all three songs:
