05-11-14 Dynamic Worship Special Number

In a way, this special number was a prep for our upcoming participation for the first Daeshin Youth Camp (we left for it the following day) for this song was a part of one of the sets we prepared for the event.

(I played bass for this song; since our band was a bassist short for the majority of May, I did mostly bass duties for this month.)

UPDATE 09/01/19:
Found an alternate video with better quality of the same performance...

The Prince of Preacher's Most Haunting Quote

Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon is one of the most significant and influential Christian figures in history.   He was a Baptist preacher during his time, and was known to deliver thoughtful and powerful sermons, thanks to his articulate and masterful expositional and oratory skills.  He was even called the “Prince of Preachers.”   Spurgeon’s writings and sermons (many of which were transcribed) were many, thus, there is a rich amount of profound and notable quotes from Spurgeon.  But among these quotable quotes, the quote that made the most impact to me is the one which I have posted above this paragraph.

The first time I encountered that quote, it really stunned me.  It made me pause and reflect.  Indeed, if I am truly a Child of God, then I should delight on things that my Father delights in, and despise the things that my Father despises.  It’s as simple as that.   It’s the gauge to determine if my faith is sincere.  And I fell short.  Realizing this, I repented.

Since then, this particular Spurgeon quote haunts me.

The pleasures of this world, both the permissible ones and sinful ones, are nothing compared to the pleasures found in the fellowship with God.  I know this.  I believe this.  But often times, I put worldly pleasures above God (which is basically idolatry).  I succumb to temptation; I sin.

That’s why I am thankful and glad that Spurgeon’s quote is haunting me.   Whenever I found myself enjoying pleasures more than I enjoy God, I reflect on that quote and it leads me to repentance.  This is my continuous struggle.

I pray that God will use this haunting quote to really transform my heart into finding ultimate satisfaction in Him alone, that there will be no tinge of hypocrisy at all whenever I profess my faith in and love for Him.

Joy Music Team at Daeshin Youth Camp '14

Joy Church's music team was invited to lead the praise and worship sessions of the first ever Daeshin Youth Camp which was held at JRM, Amadeo, Cavite, last May 13 to 15.  There were about six full sets of praise and worship, but the compiled clips below are the only video documentation we were ever able to take.  This footage was recorded by a smartphone during the morning set of the second day.

Celebrating Kobe

Let me start this by letting me share which I think is Kobe’s greatest dunk ever.

It’s definitely one of the most exciting in-game dunks in the history of the NBA.

Let’s have a closer look…

And from another angle...

Just wow.

I can’t blame you if you would prefer to gape at those GIFs over and over again rather than proceed to the rest of the article.  It’s understandable.

But that’s Kobe Bryant for you.  Inciting awe is what he does best.  And we can’t help but clap and cheer.
Doc Rivers, of all people, once said: “I just wish more people would celebrate Kobe, I really do.   Of all the guys in our league, that bugs me more than anything, that it just seems like we spend so much time trying to tear him apart and I think we're missing how great he is. And I think it's a shame.”

Celebrating Kobe.

To a Laker and Kobe Bryant fan like me, that goes without saying.   I’ve always celebrated his talents, his career, his toughness, his work ethic, his victories, and even his photos.   I’ve always looked up to the man.   He has always been awesome in my book.

But after Kobe’s Achilles injury at the late part of the humiliating 2012-2013 season and Kobe playing just six games during the abysmal 2013-2014 season, only then did it really sink on me that Kobe’s best years has passed by already.  Kobe is truly in his twilight already.  The days of Kobe dominating are gone.  That is the sad reality.

Can Kobe return back to an elite (and when I mean “elite,” it means up there with MVP-caliber players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant) form?  The possibility is there, but it’s highly unlikely.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not doubting Kobe.  If anyone can make an epic comeback from this situation, it’s Kobe.  But the odds are stacked against him.  I’m just being realistic.   Nonetheless, I desire nothing more than Kobe proving me wrong.

But given the present conditions, it is only objective to presume that Kobe Bryant’s Golden Age is gone.    There will no longer be another 81-point game.  There will no longer be back-to-back scoring championships.  There will no longer be All-Defensive First Team selections.  And if ever Kobe Bryant manages to win more championships (which I’m still hoping for), it’s not totally because he steamrolled the opposition.

And it is at this point where we should appreciate Kobe more.  He’ll be playing at least two more seasons, and any possibility of extension is dependent on how he’ll perform on those two seasons.  During this short remaining time that we can still witness Kobe on the court, we should savor every moment of it.  This goes not only to a LA Lakers/Kobe Bryan fan like me, but to the typical NBA fan as well.   Even if you are Team LeBron, a Michael Jordan zealot, a Celtic fan, or just a good ol’ Kobe hater, if you are truly a fan of the NBA and basketball, I am pretty sure you’ll miss Kobe Bryant and what his career brought to the game after he’s gone.  Seriously.   So love him or hate him as much as you want, but you got to celebrate Kobe Bryant’s greatness.  Respect and appreciate the Black Mamba.  For he is objectively one of the most captivating, most phenomenal, and most enjoyable players that ever played the game.

I, for one, am are totally thankful that I was able to witness and enjoy the Kobe Bryant era.

I’ll leave you with a few more gorgeous GIFs of Kobe displaying his awesomeness so you can have some idea of what we’ll be missing once he’s gone…

Top 10 Fictional Characters That Have Size Manipulation Powers

I’ve just recently done a list on fictional characters that can “super stretch”, and it somewhat stir me to do this list, which is kind of related to “super stretching” since it also involves physically transforming into an extent which is humanly impossible.   Size manipulation is the ability to change the mass of one’s body; either by shrinking down to the size of an ant or smaller, or growing up into a gigantic size.

10.) GIGANTICA

As the name suggests, this DC supervillainess has the ability to transform herself into a giantess.  In giantess form, she has super strength and super durability.  She is a regular enemy of Wonder Woman, but is also known to tackle with other heroes in the Justice League.

9.) CHŌZA AKIMICHI

Chōza is a tertiary character in Naruto and the father of Chōji, one of Naruto’s peers and friends.  As the head of Akimichi clan, Chōza has mastery of all of the clan’s trademark techniques.  This includes the “Multi-Size Technique” which allows its user to increase the size of a body part or his entire body.  Whenever Chōza uses this technique, he can grow into a giant and can stay in this form for an extensive period of time without any strain to himself.  Lesser experienced users of this technique, like Chōji, is incapable of keeping a giant form without finding it taxing.

8.) ATLAS

Before becoming the superhero Atlas, Eric Josten lived a life of a supervillain – first as Power Man and then as Goliath.  Then along with other former supervillains who reformed, he become part of the first incarnation of the Thunderbolts, which he was even a leader of for some time.  (I really enjoyed a lot that early Thunderbolts team [though I love the present incarnation of the team more], so I have to give a spot to Atlas.)  Unlike most size enhancers, who only gain super-strength when they increase size, Atlas already has super-strength even when in normal size (due to his ionically-charged physiology) and his strength increases some more when he grows in size.

7.) THE WASP

Janet van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp gained her ability while hanging out with super genius Hank Pym a.k.a. (the first) Ant-Man.  Undergoing a biochemical process involving Ant-Man’s Pym particles, she gained the power to shrink to wasp-size (hence the name) and grow insect wings.  Ant-Man and the Wasp would become superhero partners and, later on, husband and wife (but got divorced eventually).

The Wasp is actually within Marvel’s top 10 most important superheroines.  She’s even a founder of the Avengers (along with Ant-Man).  The problem is, for me, more often than not, Marvel can’t figure out what to do with this character.  Most of the time I encounter her in comics, I’m underwhelmed with the character.  Sure, right now, she has a prominent role in the Uncanny Avengers, but she seemed to have been pushed at that point by serving as Havok’s current love interest/wife.

6.) ANT-MAN (ERIC O’GRADY)

The third person to become Ant-Man, Eric O’Grady was a former low-level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent prior to assuming the identity.  He stumbled upon the latest Ant-Man suit after being tasked to guard Dr. Hank Pym’s lab.  He stole the suit and used the abilities it gave him for selfish motivations like stealing his best friend’s girlfriend, peeking on girls in the shower, and staging races between ants.   Eventually, he would find himself becoming part of superhero teams like the Thunderbolts and the Secret Avengers.  But though he was able to have heroic moments, he had as much self-centered, cowardly, and d-bag moments as well.  In time, O’Grady eventually desired to better himself, and in the end, he was indeed able to overcome his irredeemable flaws.   In one Secret Avengers mission, he died a heroic death by saving a child.  However, his teammates thought he survived the incident for the team’s enemy, the Father, bid a Life Model Decoy of Eric to infiltrate the Secret Avengers when the real Eric had actually died.

5.) STATURE

Cassandra Lang a.k.a. Stature is the daughter of Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man.  Unlike her father, whose ability is to shrink down to ant size, Cassandra preferred to use her size altering powers to increase her size into gigantic heights.   Along with her co-Young Avenger teammate, the teenage Vision, Stature became part of the Mighty Avengers line-up for a time.  So far, Stature and the teenage Vision are the only Young Avengers that have been promoted to official full-pledge Avengers status (the rest only got as far as honorary memberships), and that is an impressive feat.  Unfortunately, Stature met her death during the “Children’s Crusade” storyline.

4.) ANT-MAN (SCOTT LANG)

Before becoming the successor of Hank Pym’s “Ant-Man” superhero name, Scott Lang was an electronics expert who also did some burgling to augment his income.  One day, his daughter, Cassie (see No. 5, Stature), was diagnosed with a serious heart condition.  To rescue the doctor – who was being held captive by an evil a corporation – that can help his daughter, Scott resorted to stealing Hank Pym’s Ant-Man costume and shrinking gas canisters.  Unbeknownst to Scott, Hank Pym observed the whole thing, and while in his superhero guise of Yellowjacket, Pym followed him to see what he will do.   Scott proceeded to free the doctor from his captors, and the doctor was able to save the life of Cassie – much to the relief of Scott.  Afterwards, Lang went back to Pym to return the costume and to turn himself in.  However, Pym decided to give it to him, provided he will use it for good.  And from that day on, Scott Lang became the second Ant-Man, fighting crime and assisting other heroes.  He would even become an Avenger, and then the leader of the replacement Fantastic Four while the original F4 is in space.

3.) MAKAROV DREYAR

Makarov is the Guild Master of Fairy Tail, implying that he’s the most powerful member of this delightful ragtag band of magi.  He’s also one of the legendary “Ten Wizard Saints”, cementing his reputation as one of the most powerful magi in the world.  He has a big paternal heart, and acts like a good parent to the members of Fairy Tail, which he affectionately refers to as his “children.”   He is at his most wrathful and most terrifying when his “children” are attacked and hurt by an enemy.

Makarov knows a variety of magical techniques.  But his trademark magic is “Titan,” which allows him to enlarge his small stature into gigantic proportions.  Its application vary from just selecting a body part to enlarge, like his arm to increase its punching power, or to completely increase his size at its maximum capability, which is as immense as a large island!   At “Titan” mode, Makarov also gains superhuman strength and durability.

2.) THE ATOM

Ray Palmer a.k.a. the Atom is considered as the DC universe’s Reed Richards.  That itself is impressive, but more than that, Ray’s genius enabled him to utilize the remnants of a white dwarf star to create a shrinking agent.  He decided to use this technology to become a superhero.  While most size reducers in fiction can only (or choose to only) shrink down to bug size, the Atom can shrink down to subatomic levels while retaining his strength in normal size.  The initial awesome thing that made me like him was his mode of transportation: he would shrink to subatomic size and travel through phone lines by dialing a number and entering through the handset!

1.) HANK PYM a.k.a. ANT-MAN, GIANT-MAN, GOLIATH, YELLOWJACKET, THE WASP

Almost all size manipulators in the Marvel Universe have their abilities thanks to Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym.  Just like most scientific super-geniuses in the Marvel Universes, Hank is also versatile in a wide area of scientific fields.  He has great proficiency in various areas like biochemistry and artificial intelligence (he’s the one who built Ultron).  His intellect is great enough that he was once considered the “Earth’s Scientist Supreme”; he is probably only second to Reed Richards in terms of genius (though Bruce Banner and Tony Stark will disagree).   But despite his many accomplishments, Pym is most known by his “Pym particles” (that’s why it’s named after him).    The technicalities of Pym particles are completely unclear.  But, in the nutshell, it’s about storing or borrowing mass from a pocket dimension which allows the shrinking or enlarging of things or persons.  Hank Pym, utilizing Pym particles to have size altering powers, assumed different superhero guises through the years, namely Ant-Man (he was the first), Giant-Man (when he decided to use his Pym particles to grow in size instead), Goliath, and Yellowjacket.  He was even “the Wasp” for some time, in honor of his ex-wife (who was believed to be dead then).  The other size manipulators that came after Pym (most are in this list) also got their powers from obtaining access to these mysterious “Pym particles.”

Hank Pym was recently made the leader of the Avengers A.I., an Avengers team composed of android superheroes.   It’s a shame that the Avengers A.I. comicbook has just been cancelled (a run of only 12 issues).  It was a fantastic and enjoyable comic, and it was here that Hank Pym was at his most likable portrayal ever.

Top 10 Fictional Characters That Have "Super Stretching"

“Super stretching”, also known as “stretchy powers”, is the superpower that allows the body to be extremely elastic, flexible, and malleable.  Those who have this power possess the ability to extend, stretch, expand, contract, flatten, deform, and contort the body into extreme forms and shapes as if it’s made of rubber.  They can also be hard to wound since their physical composition can be so dense because of its rubbery, malleable properties.

10.) NECRO

Necro is one of the lesser known Street Fighter characters but is among those characters with interesting backstories (play the game, or look it up).  Necro has the ability to generate electricity (like Blanka) and stretch his limbs into extraordinary lengths (like the number 9 in this list).  He makes use of his flexible and eclectic rubbery limbs to grapple his opponents, which he would then shock.  He also has a cybernetic computer in his brain which gives him superhuman fighting abilities.

9.) DHALSIM

Dhalsim is one Street Fighter’s most popular characters.  He is an Indian yogi who possesses powers that fit the typecast.  He has the ability to breathe out fire, levitate, and teleport.  But he is more well-known with his ability to elongate and deform his limbs into forms that is physically impossible for a normal human being.

8.) PROFESSOR RICHARD IMPOSSIBLE

Just like everything about the Venture Bros. series, Professor Impossible serves as a fantastic parody of a pop culture property, and in this character’s case, the source material is Mr. Fantastic.  Just like Mr. Fantastic, Richard Impossible is a super genius that possesses “super stretching” powers after a freak accident involving his family (which also mirrors the Fantastic Four).  Through the series’ run, Prof. Impossible started out as a respected scientist, became a depressed and pitiable drunk, and eventually become a super villain.  It is also worth noting that in early seasons, the character is voiced by the awesome Stephen Colbert.

7.) FLATMAN

As a member of the so-called “Great Lake Avengers”, a team of silly but enjoyable D-list superheroes, Flatman seems to serve as a parody of Mr. Fantastic as well.  Like Mr. Fantastic, he also is somewhat a scientific genius, which is possibly a mere act in his part, since there were several times that the “scientific genius” identity he projects was made questionable.  As a mutant, he possess the ability to stretch himself into great lengths, just like Mr. Fantastic; the only difference being is that his body’s default form is being flat, hence, the name.

6.) JAKE THE DOG

Jake is the main character Finn’s constant companion in Adventure Time.  Jake is a magical dog that can talk and has “stretchy powers”, which allows him to transform the mass, form, and dimensions of every part of his body as he wills.  Not only can Jake deform and stretch himself into extreme and specific shapes, but he can also re-arrange his internal organs.  Examples of the extent of his powers are moving his blood and internal organs into his left thumb (“Evicted!” episode), enlarging his liver 51 times a dog his size (“Jake vs. Me-Mow” episode), and his stomach involuntarily forming a fist and punching him to wake him up to eat (“Power Animal” episode).   There are several other delightfully strange instances Jake’s power proved to be invaluable in his adventures with Finn (you got to watch the awesome show or read the awesome comics).

5.) ELASTIGIRL

Helen Parr a.k.a. Elastigirl is the wife of the super strong Mr. Incredible and the mother of the Parr/Incredible household.  I think she’s the only female character I’ve encountered that has “super stretching” powers.  This super power seems inappropriate for a lady, but Elastigirl managed to showcase the awesome application of this power (the notable forms she took was that of a boat and a parachute) in a dignified manner.  She is also an expert in hand-to-hand combat, which when combined with her elastic powers, makes her an unpredictable and dangerous fighter.

4.) ELONGATED MAN

As hinted by his superhero name, the Elongated Man can elongate his limbs and body to extraordinary lengths.  He can also change the form of his body and body parts into different shapes and sizes.  Besides his “super stretching” abilities, he is also a professional detective and is considered second only to Batman in terms of deductive prowess.   An interesting para byproduct of his powers, tied in with his detective background, is a rubbery “nose twitch” – his nose twitches when he “smells” a clue to a mystery or if something is “not right.”

3.) PLASTIC MAN

Among all characters with “super stretching” abilities, Plastic Man is arguably the most durable and most powerful of all.  It might not seem so and people tend to underestimate him since he continually makes use of his power to clown around.  His stretching powers are the most extensive among all characters with such powers (possibly only rivaled by Jake).  He is also nigh invulnerable and implied to be immortal.  As a former thief, Plastic Man has the skill set of the trade, which comes invaluable in his crime fighting.  Moreover, because of his past as a criminal, he knows how to think like a criminal, thus by replicating their mindset he is able to think steps ahead of them and be an efficient sleuth.  Plastic Man is actually pretty smart, but again, due to his slapstick nature, others tend to underestimate him.

2.) MISTER FANTASTIC

The leader and founder of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, characters that possess “super stretching” powers.  He has all the abilities you would expect from someone with such power.  And, for many, he is even considered the definite example of the archetype.

However, Mister Fantastic’s “super stretching” powers are actually just secondary to what makes him a fascinating character and a very important member of Marvel’s superhero community.  His primary asset or “power” is being a super genius.   Indeed, he once claimed that his stretching powers are expendable compared to his intellect.  He has great mastery in probably every field of science and is an extremely brilliant scientist, inventor, and engineer.  He is considered by many as the smartest man in the world (or, at least, in the Marvel Universe).   He is, understandably, cold due to his scientific and methodical nature.  But, unlike other genius archetypes, he is capable of relating to his peers, family, and friends, and developing healthy relationships with them.

1.) MONKEY D. LUFFY

“Straw Hat” Luffy is the main protagonist of the awesome One Piece series. He is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, a delightful ensemble of fascinating characters, whose travels are anchored on Luffy’s dream of becoming the Pirate King.  As a captain – despite his occasional display of naivety – his positive traits like tenacity, dedication, sincerity, and loyalty easily earned him the respect and devotion of his crew.

Luffy gained rubber physiology after eating the Gum-Gum Fruit.  Hence, Luffy is able to stretch his body at will as if it’s rubber.  He utilizes the elasticity of his body by accelerating his punches, kicks, head butts, palm strikes, and other physical attacks as if they were shot from a sling shot.  He can also enlarge parts of his body, e.g. his fist or his foot, to magnify the damage he can deliver.  Moreover, because of his rubber physiology, Luffy is invulnerable to electric-type attacks.  Over the course of the series, Luffy would continually develop more techniques to maximize the use of his rubber powers.  If you are following One Piece, then you will surely agree with me that there has been no application of the “super stretching” power in fiction that has been as badass as Luffy’s.

A 'Captain Marvel' Movie Should Be the Priority in Marvel Studios' Phase 3

An argument for a Captain Marvel movie

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk.  They (despite of Hulk lacking a thriving franchise right now) are the implicit “Big 4” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  And they are all males.  Now, there is nothing wrong with that.  But it emits some feeling of insufficiency and imbalance.  Therefore, addressing the gender inequality by including a female presence among that pantheon is very much welcome.

After Ant-Man, Marvel should prioritize making a movie headlined by a superheroine.

The MCU now has Scar-Jo’s awesome Black Widow.  I love the super-spy Black Widow.  But, in my opinion, despite of the character’s successful, kickass live-action depiction, she doesn’t quite make the cut for a solo movie.  Black Widow, awesome she may be, is a character that doesn’t really have the qualities to establish herself in the same page as the MCU’s Big 4.  A “Black Widow” movie might turn out to be cool, but it won’t measure up with the Captain America, Iron Man, or Thor movies; we need a superheroine movie that would measure up with those successful superhero franchises.

So we need a female character that can be as big as the Big 4.  Someone that can make it a “Big 5.”  She not only need to be as smart and skilled as Black Widow – again, those qualities are unfortunately not enough – but she need to be in the same power level with the Hulk and Thor, must have the leadership potency of Captain America, and is as savvy and competent as Iron Man.  In short, she should be a clear equal to these Big 4.

And there is only one obvious, logical choice: Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel has emerged as one of my most favorite female characters in fiction ever, and I’ve always wanted her become part of the MCU

She is a phenomenal character.   She is super-strong and super-durable that she will have no trouble fighting against or fighting with the Hulk (in fact, in a recent Avengers issue, she even threw Hulk from space to serve as a powerful projectile).  She can fly in super-fast speeds and even in outer space, so Iron Man has nothing on her in terms of aerial combat and mobility.   She can project photonic blasts and absorb energy to augment her own power; so if Thor hit her with lightning, she can just absorb it, and return the force back at him as a blast of light energy.  And like Captain America, she also has military background; and due to this, she is also a proficient pilot (something she is very proud of), a well-trained combatant, and a competent strategist.  She’s a perfect equal to the Big 4.   She is truly deserving of headlining a movie.

Moreover, she can be the “bridge” between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, considering that she just recently joined the GotG’s present line-up (along with Venom), making her a member of both teams.  Bringing Captain Marvel to the MCU now makes more sense.  She can be part of the eventual expansion of the GotG roster in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel and then be in the line-up of Avengers 3 – that would be awesome.

At the present, Marvel is way ahead of DC in the movie-making battle.   But if Marvel still manage to make a Captain Marvel movie before DC can make a Wonder Woman movie, then that would not only be another big victory for Marvel, but that would also seem like a massive slap to the face of DC for it would demonstrate again how they still can’t properly bring their act together.  That would be really funny.  Even if the sole reason for making a Captain Marvel movie is this fine chance to mess up with DC further, then that should be worth it already.

Mar-vell should be in the movie, but he should NOT be the first “Captain Marvel”

In the comics, the original “Captain Marvel” superhero was a Kree alien warrior named Mar-vell.  Carol Danvers became acquainted with him.  One day, she was abducted by Yon-Rogg, an alien enemy of Mar-vell.  Mar-vell went to the rescue, but during that clash, Yon-Rogg’s “psyche-magnetron” device got damaged and exploded.  Mar-vell and Carol was caught in the blast, and the particle bombardment from the explosion altered Carol’s genetic structure: Mar-vell’s Kree DNA got embedded onto Carol.  As a result, Carol gained Kree powers and she adopted the superhero name, “Ms. Marvel.”

That can basically serve as the framework of the movie’s own origin sequence.  But there should be two major differences.  First, Mar-vell should have his Kree warrior background intact, but he should not be a superhero going along with a superhero name of “Captain Marvel.”   Second, Mar-vell should die due to that blast that gave Carol her powers.

For the sake of this movie, the “Captain Marvel” superhero name should be taken by Carol Danvers immediately, unlike in the comics where she went with “Ms. Marvel” for a time before choosing to adopt the “Captain Marvel” mantel to honor the name’s original bearer.  Sure, the movie’s narrative can point out that the origin of the “Captain Marvel” name is attributed to a pun of “Mar-vell” (in fact, it is a good approach to do so), but Carol should be set up as the first Captain Marvel.  That would be to the advantage of everything in this movie, for it would establish Carol Danvers as the one and only “Captain Marvel” and not just a successor.

In the comics, Mar-vell would eventually end up dead anyway (that’s why Carol got the chance to get the “Captain Marvel’ name for herself).   Therefore, keeping Mar-vell around in the movie’s story beyond the sequence wherein Carol gained her powers would serve no purpose at all.  So it’s better to kill him off after using him as the plot device that would give Carol her powers.  Moreover, his death could also serve as Carol’s “Uncle Ben” moment, i.e. the catalyst that would compel her to become a superhero.

The iconic Ms. Marvel costume should make a brief, early appearance.  But Carol should NOT initially go with a “Ms. Marvel” superhero name.

Again, it is imperative and useful to the narrative for Carol Danvers to immediately go into the “Captain Marvel” name.  Therefore, there is no need for her to debut as “Ms. Marvel” first.  Maybe the “Ms. Marvel” name can be given a fleeting mention during the part wherein she and/or the people around her are contemplating what superhero name she can go with.  But she shouldn’t be a “Ms. Marvel” first and then go with “Captain Marvel” later on; Carol Danvers should be “Captain Marvel” right from the start of her superhero career.

Nonetheless, Carol Danver’s “Ms. Marvel” career has been pretty popular with fans.  Thus, it would be much appreciated if a good reference to it is made.  The best way is for Carol to be given the opportunity to wear the Ms. Marvel attire in the early part of the movie wherein her Captain Marvel appearance is not yet made definite.  Fans would go crazy.

(Also, the Ms. Marvel costume was hot.  And seeing this in live-action depiction would be a delight.)

The actress for the role

I prefer a young, capable, and charming actress – someone in her 20’s – to play the part.  We would need an actress that would remain appealing in a span of around ten years of movies – something like three Captain Marvel movies, two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and two Avengers movies.  I don’t have someone specific in mind at the moment though.

Seriously, would love to see something like this in live-action:
